Great fun last night in Greenock for yet another 30th birthday party - this time for Gordon and there was a sea theme so lots of hilarious fancy dress abounds…

A lovely evening with friends at Ruth's 30th birthday meal at Corinthian in Glasgow last night. Some classic snaps were taken shall we say. See them all on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cjc/sets/72157622463202139/

Now that Peigi is back down in Glasgow for Uni and Nma had vouchers for The Corinthian we took the opportunity for dinner last night. The Corinthian has a pretty jaw dropping classical interior and the food was good and restaurant was quiet. Parking in the city was an absolute nightmare for some reason, possibly due to some streets being closed in the Merchant City due to a outdoor market set up on Candleriggs.

Had a few of the guys over for a chillax last night. I made some homemade style cheese burgers with balsamic onion and peppers and we had a good night of word games and snacks. The best thing about the first game was that someone pressed the Happy Specs™ into service so as each person took a turn judging they had to wear them (they're not really a thing, just 3D glasses from the cinema with the lenses removed that I have named the Happy Specs cos when you put them on you can't take yourself or life terribly seriously :)
Playing Articulate was definitely the best part of the night. Hilarious as always. Couple of rare moments during the evening interacting with the passing public outside my open windows on the Main Street. One girl did a double take passing the window and Paul saw her and said "Hi [name]. I hope you've done your homework…" and they proceeded to have a random conversation across the room and window pane and the rest of us just burst out laughing. You see Paul is a Geography teacher and of course you can't take these teachers ANYwhere without them meeting a pupil, former pupil or parent of a pupil, and this includes my own house apparently. We also had a paramedic asking us for directions from out on the street. So random.
Good times. Must. Do. More. Often.

The final set of photos from Luke & Mim's reception at Gartmore House. I loved that they had totally thought about every aspect of the usual wedding trappings and thought about why, when and how it should be done and these guys weren't afraid of doing things with a twist. The wedding meal was a lovely cozy, relaxed affair with all the speeches and cake cutting stuff held over to be done in the dance hall where non-dinner guests coming in for the dance could enjoy them too. Mim's dad gave a great speech AND played his pipes followed by Luke's speech and gift-giving (with his lovely assistant Mim) while everyone stood round and the Best Men Johnny & Joe gave a very entertaining slideshow presentation on Luke before the wedding dance began. The wedding cake was actually tier upon tier of beautifully decorated cup cakes which were absolutely delish and trumped any traditional wedding cake I've ever had. Everyone do that for their wedding cakes from now on ok?

I had the great joy and privilege of being the official photographer for Mim & Luke's wedding day last Saturday. We were granted a window of fair weather for the afternoon amid a week of monsoon weather (thank you, Lord!) and I didn't make a complete hash of everything for which we also thank God :)
I wll hopefully have got through processing them all by next weekend but for now here is a selection from the wedding service at Kilmaronock Church and the photos of the happy couple at Gartmore House in the Trossachs National Park. Randoms including testing my flash on Nma, news helicopters hovering in the distance over Greenock prison during the release of Lockerbie bomber Megrahi on Thursday and coffee with Paul & Gaz in Nardini's in Largs.

If this isn't confirmation that you are no longer a twentysomething when you find yourself playing something as poncey sounding as croquet then I don't know what is. In any event, it's in vogue with some of my friends (also no longer twentysomething *cough*) and I got my first try last night, learning on the job. Gareth, Paul, Eric and myself had a couple games on the Largs waterfront during a gorgeous summer sunset while keeping tabs on the score of the (interminable) Andy Murray match at Wimbledon on the iPhone. Thanks to Eric for the photo of me in action :o) If only my playing was as professional as Eric's photography skills.
