I have read and recommended Dan Miller's life and career books 48 Days to the Work You Love and No More Mondays which have really opened my mind to a more out of the box and aspirational approach to finding your vocation as part of your life calling as distinct from the drudgery and 'someone's gotta do it' attitude that most people have towards their jobs. His weekly podcast is a great insight into this vocational approach to balancing talent, life and career into a satisfying whole and adapting the same to the changing workscape of the 21st century.
